Stephen Ruttle has emailed this morning with some interesting records, announced here with some envy! It is a reminder, if the wind is southerly and heavy rain is forecast, that trapping can still be really worthwhile.
This is what Stephen wrote in his email:
I was home alone here for the last week and last Sunday night..,the torrential rain night, as it often does….proved productive. S good crop of migrants including 2 Palpita vitrealis, 18 Dk Swordgrass, 25 Silver Y and our first Striped Hawk. Stunning animal.
We’ve had a few new species; Currant Clearwing and Blossom Underwing and half a dozen new micros.
