I knew that it wasn't a V-Moth but couldn't identify it, so I decided to breed it out and shortly afterwards it turned into this:

All of the evidence points to it being a Currant Pug!

ReplyDeleteThank you both for your interest, it's taken a long time for the story to resolve itself but well worth the wait. The moth was released onto a currant bush, plenty of foliage to spare. Yes Chris I'll look forward to seeing the Bilberry Pug outcome, Bilberry is more notable than Currant!
