Bilberry Pugs Llyn Llech Owain 17th May 2021
I'd been meaning to look for larvae of this scarce species as the habitat looked just right when walking the grandchildren in the past.
It was a beautiful afternoon today so I nipped up as it is peak larvae time for Bilberry Pug.
Within 100 metres of the car park and just a few minutes looking I spotted several of the distinctive spinnings on abundant shaded bilberry that I hoped were right. I opened one up and the larva looked right too so I've taken a couple home to rear out for confirmation. I might try for a decent larval photo too!
