Two days ago I found what looked like a buff ermine (?) with deformed (possibly eaten off?), stumpy wings in the porch where I have the actinic bulb. Obviously it cannot fly although it does occasionally
vibrate the tiny stumps. It is still alive. Has anyone come across this before or know what it could be.
Sorry for the delay in responding, Sally, but my system developed a glitch. I've known home-bred moths to develop like this when their wings fail to inflate properly after hatching.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, thanks Chris, I thought this was the case. I fed it to the chickens as it had little chance of success in the wild. Pleased you can now post comments again.
