22:00 Tuesday 23 April. The very wet woodland at Cwmllwyd is difficult to navigate in daytime and becomes orders of magnitude tougher after dark. There are rumors of cattle having been sucked under in the mire in the good old days and to be sure, solo visits in the pitch dark can be rather too exciting. To my shame, trapping sessions here have been far too rare and in a belated effort to rectify this I deployed the Robinson trap and the generator tight up against the boundary fence in the adjacent hay meadow tonight. I intend to return to the trap at about 01:00 in the morning to close the session down, but here are a couple of tonight's moths to whet the appetite in the meantime:
Water Carpet
Devon Carpet.
Not a bad start to the evening, I think and, with any luck, more goodies tomorrow.
