Two brief bursts of trapping to report on: the first comprising the nights 29/4, 30/ & 1/5 and the second, more recent phase of 10 & 11/5. The first episode did not yield any hoped-for migrants but included some less-regular resident species that included orange footman (up to 3), alder kitten and waved umber. The subsequent trapping phase - Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th May - was mediocre - indeed poor. Hopes had been kindled by the northward-moving warm front (which did n`t happen on the Saturday night) and the second night (last night, Sunday) was just...disappointing! The only interesting facet among the two listings of moths for the last two nights - 8 species and 7 species, both in low numbers, mostly singletons - was the difference in make-up of the list encountered on these two nights, with very little overlap of species. We are all aware that moths caught on `night 1` don`t always re-occur on `night 2` (though obviously some will). Very few micros in my trap.
