One from last year

I found this leaf mine on a sapling oak in my garden on 8/11/22 and popped it in container to see what hatched out. Although the pot was in a cool place, there was a premature emergence that I obviously missed. I think it is Phyllonorycter lautella. 'Locally common' in Carmarthenshire?

  1. Nice photos Andy. I only recognised P. lautella mines for the first time myself last autumn. They are typically large compared to other oak mines and, as you say, on young oaks. Mine were at Llangennech, E of Llanelli.
