After quite a few weeks with very little of note in the trap, it was a great pleasure to find the first Merveille du Jour yesterday. I think they really are my favourite moth.
Last night’s trap produced 30 moths for 17 species including another M du J, a nice big Large Wainscot, and a stunning chestnut coloured Gold Spot. Photos never do them justice though.
Lovely moths Jane, Gold Spots are beautiful but as you say the photos don't live up to the real thing. I trapped too but the highlights were quite low, no MdJ for me, had to make do with Red-Green Carpet as the only FFY.
