I visited a brownfield site and other areas at Bynea, east of Llanelli this afternoon (15/4). Pyrausta despicata was on the wing at the brownfield site (behind `Dyfed Steel`) with three seen - I`d last noted this species back in early September at this very same locality and it is locally a typical moth of dry sites (brownfield, horse-paddocks etc).
Above: `spot the moth` - you will have to click on the pic to enlarge it. Pyrausta despicta. The tortricid moth Cydia ulicitana was frequently flushed from gorse bushes and adjacent ground at Bynea, with many seen - it is probably ubiquitous in Carmarthenshire wherever gorse grows - just `tap` a gorse bush or check nearby and you`re sure to find it over the coming weeks.
