Enarmonia formosana

I paid a quick visit to Parc Howard, Llanelli this morning (15/3/22) in order to inspect the row of old ornamental cherry trees that line the path from the Old Road entrance. The purpose of the visit was to check for the presence of the larvae of the `cherry bark tortrix` Enarmonia formosana which, pleasingly, was found on two of the trees. The distinctive reddish-brown frass was noted (photo below). Nearby, on some pines, Exoteleia dodecella mines were in a few needles (see an earlier 2022 blog regarding this species at Pwll).

Adam Dare has previously caught adults of Enarmonia at Burry Port.
