Epinotia nisella
Last night produced a mere 31 moths of 21 species. One of these was a new Tortrix, Epinotia nisella.
They are a variable species, but this individual is quite striking.
c.f. my E.cinereana on 1 August, very similar markings but without the rich brown colouration which makes E.nisella a much prettier moth!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, if my specimen was less well marked, I would have been clueless. The Epinotia "shoulder tabs" are quite distinctive though.
