Heavy Weather.

The forecast said dry(ish), but we were visited by very heavy rain for most of the night at Cwmllwyd on Wednesday (10th October). Even so, there were 64 moths of 16 species in the trap this morning, with 4 of them FFY. These were November Moth (agg.), Feathered Thorn, Chestnut and pick of this small bunch, its close relative - Dark Chestnut:

  1. I was lucky with the rain on Weds night - almost zero apart from a very light shower. However, I was n`t luck with the moths...just `ordinary` residents. Shows how the weather can vary around the county.

  2. Not so much rain here, either, and the ground had dried up when I checked at 6am yesterday morning. No traps went out last night though, wet and very windy! Steve, I believe that you get Lead/July Belle at Cwmllwyd, presumably not this late in the year though?

  3. Sorry Chris: Lead Belle only and only 3 times - two in May this year and one in early June 2017.

  4. Thanks Steve. The dates of yours alone would normally suggest LB rather than JB. Having said that, I had one on 29 May this year which got recorded as JB, perhaps I should have another look at it. Unfortunately timing is of no help at all for my latest one.
