Bancyffordd 5/7 - a good variety

A couple of villagers came round this morning to look at the moths in the trap. A good splash of colour from several showy species along with the first Herald. 10 Dark Spectacle was my highest count so far along with a couple of Double Line, Double Dart and a single Miller. I trapped a Clay with no apparent post median black dots and found the MothsUK website handy regarding the male Clay having a dark patch on its underside around the legs. Highlight for me was discovering my first ever Scare Burnished Brass.

I forgot to add this, Epagoge grotiana, I think.

  1. Glad that you`ve had one Andy. This species and double line are two macros that have decent populations in Carms compared to elsewhere.

  2. It's great to see the Scarce BB up this way Andy, I've never had one here, thought it was a coastal species because Ian gets them and I've seen them on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Moths course at FSS Orielton (I'm booked on it in a fortnight, my third visit) Maybe I should sneak a couple back here (only joking!)
