Glynhir
Two traps run overnight on the 1st produced 107 spp. (~470 individuals), highlights included Eudonia delunella 3, Waved Carpet 4 (photo 1), Blomer's Rivulet 3 (photo 3), Bilberry Pug 1 (photo 4), Clouded Magpie 2, Satin Beauty 3, Brussels Lace 7, Black Arches 1, Gold Spangle 1 (photo 5), Small Mottled Willow 2 (photo 2), Double Line 12, Green Arches 40 (the most abundant species) and Oak Nycteoline 2.
Finally, this may just be an extreme form of Celypha lacunana, but it was smaller and much more well marked in comparison with the typical form. Any suggestions would be most welcome. First shot a phone pic before it lost some of its scales in the pot.

Barry, your Celypha looks like aurofasciana. Chris Manley had one, a first for Wales, at Prior's meadow in June last year and I caught 3 of them at Merthyr mawr last month.

ReplyDeleteThanks Paul, i'll check that out now...
ReplyDeleteYes it does look a pretty perfect fit. There's no specimen so it will be up to Sam if he's happy to accept it from the photo alone. Thanks Paul
ReplyDeleteIt looks a perfect fit for the Glamorgan individuals except it is less golden-barred than Chris' first one (which I remember as being very golden looking). The palps look right though, and I can't make it into anything else. I wonder what George's thoughts are.
