Quiet Night at Maenol

Two actinic traps were used last night and their modest beams produced a modest return.  Nothing to remotely compare with Ian's fantastic display of Moth Royalty!  The only visitors worthy of note were the first Double Darts of the year, the only possible migrant a solitary Silver Y.

  1. Double dart is nice Chris - a moth that I`ve only had once or twice, from memory. One of a suite of Maenol `goodies`.

  2. Nice moths Chris. MV seems to be the way to go at this time of year. With my fb group, they are getting good results with the mv. Some have tried alternatives, and they're switching back to mv, especially at this time of year.

  3. You'll probably get Double Dart, Jacqueline, these two were quite early, normally I see them in July. I wonder which FB group you're in? I've joined Dave Grundy's group 'Recording Moths' and got into 'Migrant Lepidoptera' as a result of the Striped Hawk-moth's arrival.
