Water pipe stops the flow.

I have hammered a short section of old-fashioned steel water pipe into the ground at my favourite trap site in the alder grove at Cwmllwyd. The pipe is perfect fit for an anglers umbrella and now the Robinson trap and its contents, the egg trays outside the trap and the electrical cable and its connectors will all stay dry under the brolly - as snug as a bug in a rug, so to say. But will the umbrella effect the light output (and consequently, the performance) of the trap? Well, it rained here all night and everything stayed pretty dry: furthermore, there were 131 moths of 50 species present when I shut up shop at 04:15 this morning. There were 8 FFYs, two of which are shown below:

  1. Although I have an actinic, I often use an old fishing brolly to save everything getting soaked, Seem to get good catches with it , plus some extras up in the 'eaves'
