Cwmllwyd 5 & 6 May 2017
We've had gusting, cold winds hereabouts for what seems an age - up to 30 mph and veering from NNW to NE. Not too good for moth trapping, I think! Keen to find some spring moths, I defied these elemental forces (which were easing a little) and put the trap out on Friday night in the alder grove and again on Saturday in the "garden." At least it stayed dry.The grand total for the two sessions was 62 moths, but since they held 7 FFYs, I can't complain. Friday saw Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet, Poplar Hawk and Nut-tree Tussock; all of which were seen again on Saturday, along with Common Wave, Chinese Character and the two illustrated below:
