Grand-daddy-long-legs?

Disappointing night's trapping here, too.  15 Epirrita spp. and only three other species turned up, Green-brindled Crescent (5), Feathered Thorn (3) and a single FFY Mottled Umber.

Two interesting creatures on the wall of my garage, though:

I don't recall seeing them with legs this long before.  The larger of the two measures about 5" (12cm) from tip to toe!

  1. That`s the harvestman Dicranopalpus ramosus (= caudatus), now probably widespread in Carms. The leg posture is distinctive.

  2. Thanks Ian, I seem to remember that in past years you've asked us moth-ers to look out for them, and I've often found them here on the walls, but maybe they were a different species with shorter legs.
