A hurried post...
Seeing a lot of silver y`s (an estimated c 25 or so) nectaring in the garden late yesterday evening (14/9), I decided to put out one trap in spite of the forecasted clear and moonlit conditions particularly as the night-time temperatures were quite high.
In moth terms, there was nothing exciting in the trap this morning - 17 silver y`s and a solitary rush veneer but there was a compensatory bug of note - a western conifer seed bug.
Above: the large (>20mm) western conifer seed bug Leptoglossus occidentalis, a strong-flying species that is attracted to moth traps. I`ve only had it once before.

I had 24 Silver Y's in porch (actinic light) last night plus a few other common species for this time of year.
