My luck seems to be in the ascendancy as I`ve just (4.45pm, 12/9) opened the kitchen door to place some peelings etc in a container for the compost heap and there was a hummingbird hawk-moth, feeding on the `second-flush` flowers of a Daphne odorata that grows by my back door.
My view was brief, as I was not expecting to see it so close and my sudden movements scared it off.
