Look out for this lacewing in your moth trap....

Please look out for this extremely rare lacewing Nothochrysa fulviceps in your moth trap - and keep a specimen (put into freezer to kill and preserve) so that it can be sent to the UK National Recorder, Colin Plant. There appears to have been an immigration of this species.

Above: caught on 15.7.15 (and perhaps also on 1.8.15) at Tyrwaun, Pwll - without me realising how rare it was! I had n`t seen this species before, so I sent this photo to the National Recorder, who thinks that it is N. fulviceps.

  1. Ooh that's rather exciting Ian. I've been having a go at Lacewings this year and have recorded 12 species, but nothing as unusual as that one.
