The only other thing of note that we saw on the walk was a hornet flying around the mill pond - my first this year.

Castle Woods
I set a mobile actinic in Llandyfeisant churchyard in Castle Woods last night prior to running a public minibeast/bug hunt this afternoon. The early conditions were ideal and from 21:30 to 22:30 there were plenty of grass moths, brimstones and mother of pearls in evidence but when I returned at 5:30 the bulb had blown over at some point in the night and the trap was sadly dominated by brown noctuids. One flame carpet was the only non-noctuid macro and the catch was dominated by large yellow and lesser broad-bordered yellow underwings. There was also this little noctuid which (I apologise for the appalling photograph) i believe could be pale mottled willow?
