51 macro species last night - emptied trap and surrounding area of moths at 3.45am using a torch - trapped in large glass conservatory again with large window open (as heavy rain predicted). Highlights were 25 Rosy Footman, Lilac Beauty (first for here) and a Scarce Busineshed Brass (see photo). Please can anyone help ID the moth next to the Lilac Beauty and the small moth (size similar to Minors). Thanks.
Scarce Burnished Brass is certainly scarce in carms with only a handful of records away from the coast; Lilac Beauty has very few records full stop. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI have been spreading the seeds of Hemp-agrimony over the years so we now have masses of this plant. Maybe this has encouraged the Scarce Burnished Brass!
ReplyDeleteVery nice Scarce Burnished Brass, still hoping to see one this year. I think the Lilac Beauty is an Early Thorn.
ReplyDeleteYes Barry you are right re Early Thorn. It was actually dead so I checked it in the daylight this morning and it is an Early Thorn.
ReplyDeleteI think I have id'd the smaller one now - Middle Barred Minor,
