Unusually I trapped for a second night in a row. There was very little overlap with the previous night and I was able to greet several new moths for the year, including Rush Veneer, Rosy Rustic, Agriphila geniculea and Canary-shouldered Thorn. Interestingly I did find one definite repeat catch - a Large Yellow Underwing with a distinctive wing deformity. I also found a very small tortrix about 5mm long and with obscure markings. This well behaved individual allowed a good photograph which helped identification, although AI failed to help this time.
Cydia ulicetana, a gorse specialist of heaths and moors, maybe drifted over from the Gower or just wandered down from the extensive patches of gorse on the hill above the town.
