Two new Forester moth sites discovered whilst our volunteer team carried out Marsh Fritillary site checks across Carmarthenshire back in June. We found a Forester moth population on way to accessing Figyn Fach, a curious common with "open access" designation but no PRoW to reach it. This is only a couple of kms from a new Forester moth site found in 2019 with George Tordoff. The second one was Cae Blaen Dyffryn, where both we and Isabel Macho found Forester moths roughly a week apart.

Of the Marsh Fritillary sites, in first half of June, we found 2 completely new sites, one near Trap, and one near Pumsaint. Also two sites found occupied for first time in over 10 years and 6 sites still occupied where not recorded in > 5 years. In all, we covered 42 sites, finding 554 MF sightings.

We'll be back to some of these sites plus many others in Carms where no MF recorded in last 5 years, during the larval web season in late August into September. Let me know if you want to join us.
