Put the MV out on Saturday night and had the first proper catch of 2023. Almost 250 moths for 66 species, including a first for me- Silver hook.
Catch include 26 Small Elephant HM, 16 Elephant, 3 Eyed HM, Lobster, Peppered, Knot Grass, Oblique Carpet, Small Seraphim, Alder, Broom, Dagger, Willow Beauty, Dusky Brocade, Burnished Brass and others
Only a smattering of micros Nemorpha degeerella, Small Magpie, Bramble Shoot, Plum Tortrix , Agapeta hamana.
And a bucket load of midges
That was some catch, Jane, there must have been a lot of jostling for space in the trap with so many large individuals. Nice Silver Hook, too, a species that I've never caught. The multitude of Elephant Hawks has prompted me to post about an item on Breakfast TV this morning...
