Hedya salicella in Burry Port

A relatively large trap of  115 individuals of 44 species produced no macro highlights, but there were a few micros that needed sorting out, including my second ever examples of Caloptilia syringella, Caloptilia stigmatella and Acleris hastiana. There was also a large, well marked tortrix which I had never seen before.

Hedya salicella, it's not in the template but I see from the UK moths website that it has been found before on the northern side of the Burry Inlet.

  1. That`s one I`ve been on the look-out for for some years - associated with various willows etc (of which there have been substantial plantings along the Llanelli-Burry Port coast). I believe that Barry Stewart has recorded this moth at/near WWT Penclacwydd, but your is a 2nd vcr? Well done.

    1. A lot of Willow here, so it's living up to its salicella name.
