Daytime mothing...a couple of brief visits to the North Dock area, Llanelli.

You don`t need a moth trap to record moths - some of the finds noted whilst wandering around the North Dock area, Llanelli very recently (stabilised sand dune, sandy grassland, brownfield and amenity tree plantings etc).

Crescent plume Marasmarcha lunaedactyla -associated with rest-harrow, a frequent plume on the Llanelli - Pembrey coast.
Pammene regiana - spotted resting on a leaf. Its food-plant - sycamore - was very close-by.
Coleophora serratula larval case. Probably the most frequent Coleophora in my experience. Feeds on a range of deciduous trees and shrubs.
Early instar caterpillar of the puss moth, on aspen.
...and also on aspen, an early instar of the poplar hawk-moth.
Above and below: Gelechia sororculella, a willow-feeder. One landed in the boot of my car as I was putting my gear away to depart and another was seen later the same day outside the Lidl`s supermarket where there is plenty of Salix cinerea (sallow).
