At the risk of seeming even more foolish (not much has changed there, then) I have worked on the original photo and I am still of the opinion that this could be Epinotia signatana. It is (of course) less sharp than the original, but I think it shows the markings on the beast rather better. I am aware that this is not the most common Tortrix in the County and I respect the views of anyone who thinks I have got this wrong.
