Trapping has been a bit disappointing, no significant numbers, no real excitement. Cold nights, high winds, moonlight and clear skies have been the norm over the last month. Very little in the trap last night except this one. It took me a while to realise that it was a very dark Brussels Lace, but at least it gave me something to ponder at 4.30 this morning when I beat the Robin to the trap!
I try to outwit not one but two hungry, keen-eyed Robins!
ReplyDeleteI was keeping an eye on a very bold Robin last week, whilst counting and identifying, only to spot a mouse at my feet mooching over the egg boxes full of sorted moths. Soon there will be hornets grabbing their fill, plus bats circling all night when the MV is out. Poor old moths, near the bottom of the food chain.
