Actinic traps were used here last night and on Tuesday night with modest returns: small numbers of Early Moth and Dotted Border, singles of Hebrew Character and March Moth (FFYs), and this micro which I'm calling Tortricodes alternella unless anyone tells me otherwise:
It's reported to be a common species, but this is the first time that I've recorded it here in twelve years of trapping. Never mind, better late than never, and it's nice to see something new so early in the season when there's not much around.

I had a selection of Quakers - Twin-spotted, Small and Common. Plus Chestnut, Red and Dark Chestnut, and Mottled Grey. Last night just one Pale Brindled Beauty. Seems very slow going this year, but I suppose it’s just early March.....roll on some mild nights!
ReplyDeleteJane, you are way ahead of me for numbers and species, this HC is the one and only example of the Quaker family I've seen so far this year. Having said that, last year was no different, I didn't start trapping until mid-March.
