Scarlet Tiger
A scarlet tiger moth spotted by Ruth and Mair Harry near Five Roads, Llanelli on Friday (5/6). Photo kindly forwarded by Richard Pryce.
I have seen up to 4 in there each year and assume they are breeding in there but not seen the caterpillars yet - I have a lot of comfrey (and nettles) just outside and abundance of hemp agrimony not too far from the site so plnety of food sources for them. The two I saw the other day were in the strawberry bed.
A Scarlet Tiger moth visited a garden in Llanfihangel-ar-Arth last week, a friend emailed me a photo.
ReplyDeleteI saw two, newly hatched, in my polytunnel yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWere you aware that you had Scarlet Tigers breeding in your polytunnel, Sally? I wonder what they were feeding on.
