Cnwc heatwave surprises

We returned from three nights holiday in Marloes, Pembs (Cream Bordered Green Pea, Annulet, Crescent Dart and other coastal goodies at friends’ traps) to baking hot Carmarthenshire. I assumed a Fritillary in the garden would be ‘just’ Silver-washed, but it landed to reveal spots on the underside: Cnwc’s first Dark Green Fritillary! A little later I beat an Ypsolopha mucronella out of some Honeysuckle in the lane - there are fewer than 20 previous records of this uncommon moth, and I’m not sure whether it’s new for Cnwc too. The MV is on tonight...

  1. Cream-bordered green pea is a moth that I now miss from my ex-Pwll garden trapping...
