Again a last-minute decision to shine the MV trap last night, rewarded by recording over 100 moths of 40+ species. Notable amongst them was a Cinnabar, a couple of Eudonia delunella, Crambus pascuella, and a small grey micro, quite distinctively marked, which as yet I'm unable to name:
Eudonia delunella Cinnabar
Crambus pascuella unnamed
I am trying to obtain better images of this micro, possibly a gelechid?
Lastly, this noctuid surprised me because it looks to me like a Square-spot Rustic, but this species normally arrives no earlier than mid-July. Am I missing something in the identification?
P.S. I've just realised that it must be a Purple Clay!
I managed to get a profile of the grey micro, and have discovered another equally small moth with plain, bronze appearance:
Any help with identification would be much appreciated.
Your Gelechid is Exoteleia dodecella - those scale tufts are pretty distinctive.
