Maenol Update

Four micro species resulted from yesterdays' trapping, two I was able to name:

                Acleris literana                         Agonopterix heracliana

Not so the other two:

My best guess is Acleris sp., either A.maccana (hopefully) or A.hastiana (more likely, although it's on the small side).

Another Agonopterix sp., not a good image but my best guess is A.yeatiana.

Any comments would be gratefully received.

I put a small actinic trap out yesterday evening but sadly the lamp expired during the night (low battery), but not before it had attracted two FFY Water Carpets and a pair of Streamers reminding me that Spring has arrived:

  1. Over the last week I have been seeing several Agonopterix heracliana when I water in the polytunnel.

  2. Pretty sure it is hastiana - it has the slightly concave leading edge of that species.

The Agonopterix looks pretty worn, perhaps subpropinquella or heracliana.

  3. Thank you George, it's odds heavily on hastiana which I've had before, safe enough to record it as such. The Agonopterix will have to remain anonymous.
