I eventually put out my garden traps rather late - at 9.15 pm - last night (23/2), after initially not going to bother to trap. The warm, windless and cloudy evening made me think otherwise and I anticipated a `good trap`, though sometime in the early hours the night skies had cleared and it was almost frosty this morning.
The trap results were disappointing with 13 species (in small numbers) at the latest count, though oak nycteoline and brindled beauty were both FFYs. Nothing like the good results achieved by Sam and Andy at their respective mid/north Carms sites.
Above: brindled beauty (male) and a pale brindled beauty for comparison; only one of each caught.
Above: oak nycteoline - two were in this morning`s trap.
