More Autumnal Surprises

Last night's returns were not as good as expected given the favourable conditions - mild, overcast, light wind.  Even so there were several FFYs (November Moth agg., Lunar Underwing, Green-brindled Crescent, Merveille du Jour) and a couple of unexpected arrivals (Brussels Lace, Fan-foot).  A total of 40 moths of 20 species were recorded.

Brussels Lace
Epirrita sp.
Lunar Underwing
 Fan-foot
Merveille du Jour

At first glance I thought that the Lunar Underwing might be Beaded Chestnut, a species I've never seen here.  Sadly not.  LU has been recorded in most years, albeit only the odd one or two.
