Please help!

If anyone can assist with the specific name of this Phyllonorycter sp. which was netted while I was walking the dogs at Cwmllwyd this morning, I will be most grateful:

A few Micropterix calthella showing, too. There will be thousands soon.

Also found this Twenty-plume Moth in the kitchen today.

  1. Good luck with the Phyllonorycter Steve, there's rather a lot of similar looking species I think. Maybe someone e.g. Sam or George will help. I see that you noticed Laura Moss posting on F/B 'Recording Moths', I saw one of hers last week and Ian told me that she was already 'one of us'. A very welcome new member!

  3. Your Phyllonorycter....I`ll make a suggestion: perhaps P.coryli?

  4. Many thanks Ian - that seems to be quite likely.

  5. I don't think it would be safe to record the Phyllo to species level - it may well be coryli but other species, e.g. maestingella, are very similar.
