Angle Shades

Belated Happy New Year to all. After a miserable January and only 6 moths caught, we are now into an even more miserable February  and no sign of being able to trap.Very frustrating!
However, to cheer me up, this Angle Shades appeared upstairs, freshly emerged and perky. I think it must have been in seed compost, as I have tray of tomato seeds germinating close by.
I know its common but I always enjoy seeing them.

  1. This moth always reminds me of the first time I ever saw one, in the 1950s on the window of my father's garage. I showed it to a mothing friend, announcing that it was a Lime Hawk Moth. He replied: "of course it isn't!" (he was much wiser than me) but he couldn't tell me what it was!
