Nine.
Nine was the total count of moths caught in the MV trap in the alder grove at Cwmllwyd last night! Even so, two of them (also seen here during spring this year) are illustrated below:
Well done Steve, I put a large actinic trap out last night without much hope of success because it was a clear moonlit night, and I wasn't wrong - nothing in it this morning. Better on Tuesday night with the MV though, a modest catch including three dark green-coloured Carpets about which I may well blog later and need you to comment! Lithophane spp (Pinions and Shoulder-knots) are puzzling me, they were reasonably frequent visitors here in my first few years of trapping but they've gone - no S-ks since 2012 and the last Pinion (a Tawny one) was in April 2015. It's nice to know that they're still around elsewhere.
