Cwmllwyd 4 August 2017

The MV trap was set up in the alder grove last night, but was not so prolific as its last couple of outings. There were 118 moths of 41 species this morning, with Chevron, Bordered Beauty, Shaded Broad-bar, Scalloped Hook-tip, Rosy Rustic, Dun-bar and Acleris aspersana as first sightings this year.

There were three Twin-spot Carpets - a rather variable species, so I show them all:

 Bordered Beauty

Moth of the night - Scalloped Hook-tip

I need assistance with this Plume; if you would be so kind!

  1. I`d suggest beautiful plume Amblyptilia acanthadactyla Steve.

  2. Scalloped Hook-tip is nice, Steve, I've only ever had one here, in August 2014. May put a trap out tonight just in case...
