I've trapped quite a bit from early April and not posted much as I've not had a lot of time. Going through things tonight as the weather has changed and I've got more time, I came across an odd one that I trapped on the 24th May. I contacted Sam and he has confirmed a Ruddy Carpet.
Jeepers...that's a bit good! New for Carms?
ReplyDeleteThanks George, according to Sam it is new for Carmarthen. Big smile from me.
ReplyDeleteAwesome record, Mel - very well done indeed!
ReplyDeleteReally well done Mel. This species is supposed to occur on cliff vegetation elsewhere...I wonder if it`s on the base-rich ORS cliffs at Llansteffan? There`s plenty of lady`s bedstraw for example at Wharley Point cliff section.
ReplyDeleteGet your climbing boots ready for next year!
The second new macro for Carms...amazing stuff.
Thanks Steve & Ian. I will have to do a proper on the cliff session soon, the next warm front maybe!!
ReplyDeleteVery good find, Mel, it's amazing that we've gad two new County records in the last week or so. There's hope for us all (not last night though)!
ReplyDeleteBarrett`s marbled coronet is another one to look for on the cliffs - it`s out now in Ceredigion.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ian next week I'll try roaming the cliffs with my trap and net.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, look in your wood shed, you never know what you'll find.
Mel, rest assured that I check my woodshed out several times each day!
DeleteThis is indeed a beautiful county first. There were several Capel Isaac Rothamstead records from the 70s, but that dataset had more obvious errors than the rest of Rothamstead's data from Carms, so I don't trust those Ruddy Carpets. Well done Mel!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam, glad I'm adding to the county list.
