The trap attracted 209 moths and there were ten FFYs among the 58 species identified so far, with a couple of micros still to name. In roughly the order in which they came out of the trap, the FFYs were: Common Lutestring x4, Peach Blossom x4, Small Fan-foot, Dark Spectacle, Heart & Dart, Green Arches, Beautiful Snout (not seen that one before (is the name an oxymoron?)), Plain Golden Y x2, July Belle and Dark Brocade. Several of these are illustrated below - confirmation for some would be much appreciated:
Dark Brocade
July or Lead Belle? It has a very weak cross-line near the base and an even weaker one closest to the termen. There's no dash at the apex, while the marks in the cross-band are a comma and a dot. They are quite central in the cross-band. I've called it July Belle, but would be happy to be corrected.
Dark Spectacle (sunglasses, perhaps?).

I would be elated to see the oxymoronic Beautiful Snout too, Steve, never had one here. Can't help you much with your Belle though, judging from the book descriptions Lead is more likely at this time of year, and the position/shape of the central spot might favour it too, but I've only had July Belle, once, funnily enough in July (2013).

I think it must be Lead Belle for the following reasons: flight time is spot on for LB, less so for JB; spots on the wing are central in the cross-band, rather than closer to the second cross-line; at least one of those spots is shaped like a comma - this does not occur in JB; weakness of the first and fourth cross-lines (and lack of a dash at the apex) could be due to weathering, perhaps. I will log the moth as Lead Belle, unless someone more knowledgable (and there are plenty of Carms Group members who qualify) corrects this.
