Recent Ffos Las sightings


Garden tiger moth caterpillar seen 5th May
 

These lackey larva exhibited very strange behaviour when seen on 8th May as they appeared to dance as I approached. They reared up and waved around in what I assume must be a defence mechanism. Any ideas anyone?


 
This is my first small copper of the year, seen yesterday, 10th May.  I saw none on Ffos Las last year and only 2 in the whole of 2015.
 
 
My first small heath this year, also seen yesterday.

    Nice photos Maggie and yes, you`re probably correct re the lackey larvae behaviour.
