Micro help needed please (as usual).

Only 31 moths of 14 species at Cwmllwyd last night (Wednesday 17 May) - these included two species of micros that leave me confused:

Could this be Elachista subalbidella? Although E. argentella is statistically more likely in the county.

Lathronia strigana perhaps?

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

  1. A rushed comment (as I`m running late with jobs - as usual!). I too thought Elachista, but it looks too slim for argentella - I`d provisionally go for subalbidella too (logical from a habitat perspective where you live Steve).
    Must go...painting!!!

  2. Thanks very much, Ian: one out of two is a pretty good strike rate for me with micros!

  3. I don't think it's subalbidella - but I don't have any other suggestions off the top of my head!

The Tortrix looks good for Cydia ulicetana.

  4. Thank you, George: C. ulicetana is obvious now it's been pointed out!
