Micro query

For some reason I can't identify this very distinctive micro which I photographed in Castle Woods on the 8th April (only just getting round to emptying my camera..). It is posing like Stathmopoda pedella but the markings and time of year aren't right...
If someone could put me out of my misery it would be much appreciated.

    I`m just now looking at the moth blog after not bothering during this cold period of low moth activity (though, incidentally, it looks ok to trap tonight and Saturday).
    I think that you are correct Steve and, subject to confirmation, it will be a top-notch record by Vaughn. Pachyrhabda is, of course, known from nearby Aberglasney, where it is an apparent introduction on non-native ferns. It was originally found there by Jon Baker and seen more recently by Chris Manley. If it is indeed established at Dinefwr Castle Woods, Llandeilo, it may suggest that it is now utilising native ferns and has the potential to spread further afield - so a significant record. Well done.

    Ah excellent, thanks all - wish I'd got it off my camera sooner. It was in the area around Llandyfeisant Church.

    So it was at the `far end` of Castle Woods, and not on the Aberglasney side...even more interesting. Something to alert any WT staff to look out for at Castle Woods Vaughn?

      Yep - I'm actually working there occasionally myself for the next couple of months at least so I'll keep an eye out too.

    Remember to look under fern fronds for feeding signs of Pachyrhabda and also keep an eye out for those deadwood Oecophorid possibilities that I mentioned in my email. Dinefwr is such a fantastic place for its deadwood invert assemblages.

    Well done, great find. Lovely place, a company selling binoculars and other birding equipment, used to go to Llandyfeisant Church, that's where I bought my first pair of binoculars, going back to the 90's!! I saw the Redstart sitting on the wire fence (quite some years ago) on the left after going past the Church.
