I ran a couple of traps in my daughter's garden on Sunday night with much better results than at home in Gowerton. Amongst the 25 species were lots of
Dyseriocrania subpurpurella which I can never resist trying to photograph and a single
Semioscopis steinkellneriana which I don't see very often.

What absolute beauties Chris, and cracking photos as always!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I`ve just returned from a peat bog in SN50 (nr Pont Abraham) to look for subpurpurella - and failed (just 3 common heaths and a female brimstone butterfly as compensation), plus some mines on birch to look at later.
Keep on trapping at Pontyberem!
Lovely pics. I had my first Semioscopsis steinkellneriana nfg, nfy, nfm 9th April, and my first two Dyseriocrania subpurpurellas nfg, nfy, nfm on 15th Apr.
ReplyDeleteThanks both. Another nice tiny micro and new for me this morning, see post above.
