Quick post...last night`s moths (Weds 8/3/17)
Seven spp: clouded drab* 2, common quaker 3, twin-spotted quaker 1, early grey* 1, March moth 3, oak beauty 2 and engrailed* 1. (* = FFY for me).
It`s warming up by Friday, so it may well be worth trapping.
Fri/Sat night looks promising, with S winds...I`ll probably hold back for those nights. I also found a couple more moths at the trap site - two more March moths...
I have just checked my MV (in Monmouthshire) and found a Water Carpet. There may be some good early records in Carms over the next few mild nights. Good luck everyone.
Hello, I trapped my garden last night, (Weds), Llandysul area. Robinson MV. 1x Clouded Drab nfy, nfg, nfm. 5 x Oak Beauty, 3 x Early Grey, 2 x Engrailed, 1 x Hebrew Character, 3 x Early Thorn, 1x Twin Spotted Quaker nfy, nfg, nfm. 5 x Dotted Border. Best night for quite some time.
I'm just wondering where you're situated, Jacqueline, it can't be far away from me. I'm on the B4459 between Llanfihangel-ar-Arth and Pencader, next to the old telephone exchange.
I'm between Pontwelli and Saron. Started last Oct with my first new trap, and have garden trapped through the winter. I had great results with just my corner security light, so used that quite a bit. Ordinary 100 w bulb with a white pearl covered shade.
Trapped at Cwmllwyd last night as well. One each of Dotted Border, Chestnut, March Moth and Pale Brindled Beauty. May try again tonight.
ReplyDeleteFive of five, in fact: I've just found a Mottled Grey while clearing up the trap site.

ReplyDeleteI also trapped last night at home, 2 Oak Beauty, 2 Early Grey, 2 Dotted Border, Hebrew Character and a wasp. We're off......

ReplyDeleteIt looks as though you're about half way between myself and Sally in Saron, 2-3 miles from both as the crow flies (or moth in this case!)
