Moth Night 2017...

2017`s Moth Night will be held on 12-14 October, with a theme of recording on ivy blossom (or `sugar` deliberately placed out), with the faint chance of recording an orange upperwing. One of the last UK sightings of this possibly nationally extinct moth was in Ceredigion, so there may be hope.
Certainly, in recent years,  Jon Baker did very well in terms of interesting moth records by checking flowering ivy in autumn, whilst `sugaring` is a technique much used by the old lepidopterists -various recipes involving treacle and rum etc (sounds tasty!) and can be found in relevant books.
(Most of the above information was taken from the latest issue of Atropos magazine).

Please send your 2016 moth records to Sam Bosanquet if you have n`t already done so.
