News from SN62
On the 11 November at 21 minutes after midnight at his home in Taliaris near Llandeilo (SN663296), my brother found this moth on a window of his house. He photographed it using fluorescent light, which I think has led to a bit of a colour cast. I don't think that there is any doubt about it's ID though.

ReplyDeleteTell Alan that he`s a lucky blighter - really well done! I wish that I goodies like that coming to my window! I recall that there`s an older SN62 record but where exactly it was, I don`t know.

ReplyDelete....and my jinx too. I`ve got sprawlers `on the brain`, but I don`t think that they`re in SE Carms (or, at best very rare).
ReplyDeleteI`d say that, given your geographical position Steve, that you have a fair chance - keep on trying in November.
I trapped on Monday 14th and caught 4 x Yellow-line Quakers - I think my next involvement may be to send my records for the year to Sam!
ReplyDeleteLikewise, Steve. My MV on Tuesday night attracted 3 Feathered Thorns, a November Moth type and a FFY December Moth. All were outside the trap which itself contained nothing but flies. That's it for me this year, I think that from now on I'll rely on the odd stray moth turning up on a window!
ReplyDeleteMy moth trap has been put away now and my records are nearly up to date. Thanks for all the help, especially from Ian, I've enjoyed my first half year of moths and am looking forward to starting again next year. What chance of a few in January?????
ReplyDeleteThanks for your efforts trapping, everyone. Please remember to keep checking the weather forecast for mild nights, and to keep an eye on windows and outside lights. The late species are still going, there could well be another winter immigration, and Spring Ushers are only a couple of months away!
